ERIC'S CORNER
We are often asked, where can I hear your products? Or who uses your modified
Marshall? This page will give you a better idea of who we have worked with
and what we have done for them. (Ok, It's really just an excuse to do some
serious name dropping). We have also gotten some really nice letters from
customers regarding our products and mods. We will be reprinting some of
those letters in The Mail Box section. If you have
comments or questions about our products, please send them to Soundsmith,
Inc 27 West 20th St. NY NY,10011, or e- mail us: Eric@Soundsmith.com. We
also answer the phone during working hours (11 AM -- 6 PM weekdays), 212-

SOUNDSMITH SOUNDCHECK
New products currently in development include a tube mic preamp, a tube
buffer (designed to meet your specific requirements) and a killer Mesa
Boogie 290 Power Amp mod.
Page Hamilton has just finished recording his next record with Helmet at
Capital Studios. Page feels that he got his best guitar sound ever with
his usual Kolbe gear and new Kolbe Tube Buffer. He also experimented with
a modified Mesa Boogie 290 Power amp. Here's some words from Page:
"While recording, my main setup was the Harry Kolbe GP-1 with the power
section of my Kolbe modified Marshall 2204 Head through a Silent Speaker
and Kolbe speaker cabinets. Harry built me a Tube Buffer and the difference
it made was like night and day. Without the buffer I sometimes get a grainy
sound with my processing. With the buffer, the grain dissapeares and my
chords sound more focused. Harry also modified my Mesa 290 Power Amp. The
Mesa 290 is one of the best tube MI power amps I've heard and Harrys mod
takes the Boogie to a new level. It has a much more open top end and now
I get more of the crunch I need. Harry's pretty amazing... He's the only
person I know who gets table service at the Barnes & Nobles Bookstore
cafe."
